REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-56 north of 250th Rd.

Ryan T. Wilson, 29, Abilene, hit a deer at 7 a.m. Oct. 2 with a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado owned by PCI Roads, St. Michael, Minnesota.

US-56 west of Nighthawk Rd.

Deborah K. Knox, 61, Hutchinson, hit a deer at 7:55 p.m. Oct. 2 with a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox owned by Wheels LT, LSR, Hutchinson.

US-50 east of Union Rd.

Elena Devora, 27, Wichita, hit a deer at 8 p.m. Oct. 4 with a 2009 Honda Accord owned by Rosa E. Devora of Liberal. The Honda was towed.

Kanza Rd. north of 260th Rd.

Cameron N. Spohn, 17, Tampa, hit a deer at 12:06 a.m. Oct. 5 with his 1998 Ford Mustang.

140th Rd. west of Pawnee Rd.

Steven S. Reiner, 70, Newton, was injured at 10:05 a.m. Oct. 5 when his 2006 Toyota Camry overtook another vehicle and he lost control while trying to get back into the correct lane. The Toyota swerved five or six times before going off the left side of the road. When Reiner tried to steer back onto the roadway the car overturned. Reiner was not taken to a hospital. He removed the Toyota himself. No citations were issued.

At the US-77 / US-56 Roundabout

Howard E. Adams, Jr., 58, Herington, hit the back bumper of a 2008 Toyota Tacoma waiting to enter the roundabout at 1:40 p.m. Oct. 5 with his 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. Keely E. Patton, 51, Andover, was the driver of the Toyota. Neither the drivers nor Ellie Patton, 17, Andover, a passenger in the Toyota, reported injury. No citations were issued although deputy Travis Wilson’s report listed inattentive driving and following too closely as having caused the accident, but was unclear on which driver was inattentive and following too closely.

Contacted Monday for clarification on the accident report, the sheriff’s office said no one was available to provide information because of the Columbus Day holiday.

K-15 north of 210th Rd.

George L. Prieb, 76, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 7:45 a.m. Oct. 6 with his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.

US-77 south of 180th Rd.

Lennidies E. Calderon-Alves, 18, Fort Riley, was injured at 5 p.m. Oct. 6 when she crashed a 2010 Toyota Coaster owned by David J. Alves, Fort Riley, into a field. Calderon-Alves said she’d driven onto the shoulder, over corrected, and hit an embankment. The Toyota was airborne 60 feet, then overturned at least one time, coming to rest on its wheels. She was taken by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital. The Toyota was towed. No citations were issued.

US-56 north of 350th Rd.

Robert G. Enriquez, 55, Larned, was injured at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 7 when his 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier left the highway 714 feet south of 350th Rd. and careened 810 feet north, coming to rest in the ditch 96 feet north of 350th Rd. Enriquez was thrown out of the Chevrolet, and the car caught fire and was destroyed. He was taken to Via-Christi-St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Tampa ambulance. The Chevrolet was towed. No citations were issued.

At the US-77 / US-56 Roundabout

Ronald J. Urban, 73, Manhattan, drove his 2019 Ford F-150 into the passenger side of a semi at 9:25 a.m. Oct. 7. The semi, a 2000 Peterbilt owned by Everetts, Inc., Abilene, was driven by Jacob D. Swisher, 30, Assaria. The Ford was owned by Flint Hills Ford, Manhattan. No citations were issued although deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on Urban failing to yield.

US-56 north of K-150

Kira C. Newbern, 23, Manhattan, hit a fox at 2 a.m. Oct. 8 with a 2015 Chevrolet Spark owned by Christopher L. Newbern, Derby. The Chevrolet was towed.
