Sunflower Rd. south of 140th Rd.
A passenger was injured and driver Katelynn D. Frye, 23, Marion, was cited for allegedly driving under the influence and transporting an open container of alcohol after she drove a 2020 Ford F-150 through an S curve, across a ditch, and into a barbed wire fence and steel post at 1 a.m. May 17.
Passenger Alex B. Jones, 18, Wichita, was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, with what were described as incapacitating or disabling injuries. He reportedly was not wearing a seat belt.
Neither Frye nor her other passenger, truck owner Douglas J. Schroeder, 30, Marion, reported injuries. Both were listed as wearing seat belts and being protected by air bags that deployed.
Deputy Matthew Regier’s report listed Frye’s blood-alcohol level as 0.126, more than 57% above the level limit.
She was jailed by deputy Joel Womochil on the two driving citations and on suspicion of an additional charge of providing false information about the accident. She was released nine hours after the wreck on a $2,500 surety bond.
The truck sustained extensive damage to its front, windshield, undercarriage, and both sides. It was towed.
