These accident reports were released this week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

K-150 west of Zebulon Rd.

Arlen R. Decker, 67, Moundridge, hit a deer with his 2010 Chevrolet Equinox at 7:58 p.m. Sept. 19. Pamela Decker of the same address was a passenger. The sport utility vehicle had to be towed.

Quail Creek Rd. north of US-56

Tiodora A. Nguyen, 42, rural Marion, hit a deer at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 23 while driving a 2013 Cadillac SRX owned by Rebecca Escalante of Dodge City.

US-50 east of Turkey Creek Rd.

Two semis sustained minor damage when they brushed at 4:10 p.m. Sept. 24 while their drivers were attempting to merge at the end of a passing lane.

Deputy Kaylan Miles’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving by both drivers: Besulfikad W. Kenea, 34, of Lenexa, who was driving a 2013 Freightliner semi owned by Ezra 2 LLC, also of Lenexa, and Troy J. Fraire, 42, of Los Angeles, California, who was driving a 2021 Volvo owned by Quick Response of Northridge, California.

Neither driver was ticketed.

US-56 east of K-15

Laura A. Legg, 54, Marion, hit a deer with her 2015 Chevrolet Sonic at 7:10 a.m. Sept. 27. Her car was towed.

Kanza Rd. north of 250th Rd.

Julia A. Klenda, 62, rural Lincolnville, hit a deer with her 2013 Ford Explorer at 7:10 a.m. Sept. 28.

US-77 south of 180th Rd.

Heather R. Sells, 43, Wichita, hit a deer with her 2019 Jeep Wrangler at 7:37 p.m. Sept. 28.

HILLSBORO

100 block of S. Main St.

A 79-year-old Hillsboro resident suffered injuries regarded as life-threatening at 11:20 a.m. Sunday when a car backed into a bicycle he was riding.

Walter C. Plus, who lives just five blocks away from accident, was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, after his electric-assist bicycle was struck by a 2015 Lincoln MKX that Bonnie J. Funk, 81, of rural Hillsboro was backing out of a diagonal parking space.

Plus initially was unresponsive but regained consciousness after first responders from Hillsboro Fire Department administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Marion ambulance attendants, who transported him to Wichita because Hillsboro ambulance was on another call, categorized his injuries as life-threatening.

Officer Chris Mercer’s report blamed the accident on improper backing by Funk, but no tickets were issued.
