ACCIDENTS
REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
US-50 at Alfalfa Rd.
A farm tractor and a semi-trailer truck both were listed as destroyed and the teenaged tractor driver as injured, though not taken to a hospital, after the semi attempted to pass the tractor while it was turning left at 8:08 p.m. July 14.
Deputy Matt Regier’s report blamed the accident on improper passing by Deon Anthony, 52, of Bossier City, Louisiana, who was driving a 2022 Freightliner Sprinter owned by Taz Leasing of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
No tickets were issued.
Fifteen-year-old Luke Watkins of rural Burns was listed as injured but not taken to a hospital. The 2013 John Deere 6510 he was driving was owned by Scott L. Peterson, rural Marion.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and ended up off the roadway to the left.
K-15 north of 80th Rd.
Distracted while setting a drink down, 15-year-old Angel G. Rivera of Hillsboro drove his 2018 Kia Sorenta over the center line at 3:52 p.m. July 17 and sideswiped an approaching 2010 Chrysler Town and Country driven by 14-year-old Jaklyn M. Frantz of Hillsboro.
Rivera was cited for driving left of center, not carrying his license, and violating terms of his restricted license, presumably because his passenger, 53-year-old Sosme T. Ezequiel of a different Hillsboro address, did not fulfill the requirement that Rivera have a fully licensed driver beside him in the front seat.
Frantz also was driving with a restricted license, but her passenger, 52-year-old car owner Mitchell D. Frantz of the same address, presumably fulfilled the requirement.
Both vehicles sustained what deputy Derek Fetrow described as minor damage.
