These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

140th Rd. southeast of US-77

Driving too fast on a gravel road at 3:54 p.m. Sept. 29, Alexis N. Jennings, 18, McPherson, lost control of a 1999 GMC Yukon owned by Ethan A. Hinton of Florence and swerved it into a ditch, where it overturned, deputy Derek Fetrow reported.

No tickets were issued, but the sport utility vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed by its owner.

Indigo Rd. north of 140th Rd.

Paul W. Klassen, 76, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 9 a.m. Oct. 1 with his 2016 Honda CRV, which sustained damage characterized as minor. Gladys E. Klassen of the same address was a passenger.

190th Rd. east of Old Mill Rd.

Gary L. Slater, 61, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 9:27 p.m. Oct. 1 with a 2012 Dodge Durango owned by Joann M. Knak of a different Hillsboro address.

Lori A. Travnichek, 53, El Dorado, was a passenger in the truck, which sustained disabling damage and was towed.

US-56 at 300th Rd.

No tickets were issued after Elizabeth G. Nelson, 20, Sedgwick, crashed a 2004 Toyota Camry into the rear driver’s side of a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that she was attempting to pass as it turned left in front of her at 12:01 a.m. Oct. 3.

The Monte Carlo, owned and driven by Kim M. Shields, 63, rural Lincolnville, was towed. The Camry, owned by Andres Nelson of the same Sedgwick address, was driven away.

Deputy Matthew Regier’s report blamed the accident on Nelson’s improper passing.

US-50 east of Union Rd.

Joseph R. Schuler, 28, Edwardsville, hit a deer at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 with a 2021 Ford Explorer owned by Johnson County.

The sport-utility vehicle sustained damage to its right front but remained functional.

K-15 south of 150th Rd.

Steven T. Whalen, 59, Abilene, hit a deer at 8:10 p.m. Oct. 3 with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Abrasive Blast of Abilene.

The pickup sustained damage to its right front but remained functional.

Royce T. Ross, 28, Hesston, drove his 1992 Ford F250 into the rear of a diagonally parked 1995 GMC Sierra owned by Brent G. Miles, Marion, at 7:55 a.m. Oct. 3. Damage was described as minor
