These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

200 block of E. Main St., Goessel

Rear ends of vehicles backing out of parking lots on opposite sides of the street collided at 2:47 p.m. May 5.

Deputy Steven Janzen rated as minor damage to both vehicles — a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek owned and driven by Jamie L. Remsberg, 55, Newton, and a 2021 Honda Odyssey owned and driven by Chantelle A. Klaassen, 36, rural McPherson.

Timber and 20th Rds.

Samuel Fasnacht, 17, rural Burns, was airlifted to a Wichita hospital after his southbound 1973 Honda motorcycle collided at 9:40 a.m. May 6 with a northbound 2011 GMC Acadia that was turning left.

Fasnacht’s cycle was listed as destroyed. The Acadia, owned and driven by Michael T. Hauck, 65, rural Burns, sustained moderate damage to its front and hood but remained drivable, according to Janzen’s report.

Fasnacht was ticketed for operating an unlicensed vehicle and for not having a license to operate a motorcycle.

K-15 north of 90th Rd.

Miranda K. Tyler, 17, Goessel, hit a deer at 9:28 p.m. May 6 with a 1997 Ford Taurus owned by De Esta Gregory of Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Passengers in the car were Justice D. Rust, 15; Claire D. Reida, 17; and Levi P. Olson, 15, all of different Goessel or rural Goessel addresses.

The Taurus sustained what deputy Joshua Meliza termed disabling damage to its front, hood, and windshield, but a tow truck was not called.

Kanza Rd. south of 190th Rd.

A dump truck owned by Allied Equipment of Wichita snagged a Flint Hills Rural Electric Cooperative power line while its trailer was being lowered at 12:30 a.m. May 8.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on inattentive operation of the 2011 Mack semi-trailer truck by driver James L. Wily, 52, Wichita, but no tickets were issued.

According to monitored transmissions, Wily remained safely in the semi until the trailer was lowered out of contact with the power line. Hillsboro firefighters and ambulance stood by but were not needed.

US-50 northeast of 110th Rd.

Justine N. Peters, 30, Chandler, Arizona, was taken by ambulance to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, after she lost control of a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 after she clipped a semi-trailer truck at 4:38 p.m. May 9 while attempting to pass.

Christner’s report blamed the accident on what her termed Peters’ aggressive or antagonistic driving and her driving too fast for conditions. However, no tickets were issued.

The semi, a 2016 International owned and driven by Donald L. Schultz, 61, Barry, Illinois, sustained what Christner termed as minor damage to its left front.

Peters’ pickup, which ran off the road to the left and hit a culvert, sustained disabling damage to it left rear and front and was towed.
