These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

330th Rd. east of Falcon Rd.

A 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by Kenneth D. Hein, 70, Durham, hit a cow that had wandered into the road at 10:41 p.m. July 20.

Hein’s pickup remained drivable with damage to its front, hood, and right side. The cow was owned by James G. Hamm, rural Tampa.

9th St. west of Prairie Lawn Rd., Peabody

In an accident investigated by sheriff’s deputies because no city police were on duty, a hit-and-run driver sometime before 1:18 p.m. July 22 struck a mailbox owned by Ronald D. Traxson.

US-77 north of 180th Rd.

Treyun J. Bouyer, 26, Birmingham, Alabama, hit a deer at 8:16 p.m. July 22 with his 2023 Hyundai Elantra, which remained drivable despite damage to its left front and hood.

US-56 west of Nighthawk Rd.

An engine compartment fire at 9:37 p.m. July 23 destroyed a 2013 Dodge Durango owned and driven by Jackie M. Bowen, 41, Effingham.

Marion firefighters extinguished the blaze, which was blamed on the vehicle’s exhaust system.

Dewayne D. Bowen, 41, and Christopher M. Horton, 17, of the same Effingham address were passengers.

285th and Goldenrod Rds.

Landon T. Wiebe, 18, rural Durham, failed to navigate a turn shortly after midnight July 24, drove his 1985 Toyota pickup off the road to the right, overcorrected, and then drove it off the road to the left. The pickup ended up on its side.

Damage to the pickup’s left rear was characterized as minor.

Pawnee Rd. north of 170th Rd.

Alex M. Dalke, 24, rural Marion, hit a deer at 5:56 a.m. July 26 with his 2013 Ford F-150. The pickup sustained what was characterized as disabling damage to its front, hood, windshield, and undercarriage, but no tow truck was called.

HILLSBORO

Ash St. west of B St.

Joseph E. Willems, 80, rural Hillsboro, was cited for inattentive driving and driving with an expired license after his 1998 Ford Expedition pulling a trailer rear-ended 2014 Kia Sorento stopped behind a city trash truck at 11:34 a.m. July 25.

Damage to the front of Willems’ sport utility vehicle and to the rear of the Kia, driven by Camry L.G. Barnes, 26, of Minneapolis, Kansas, was termed minor. Barnes’s SUV was listed as being owned by Alexandria M. Barnes of Kansas City, Kansas.
