These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

360th Rd. east of Nighthawk Rd.

Inattentive driving, driving too fast for conditions, and problems with his 1997 Ford Mustang’s steering are being blamed in an accident at 2:20 p.m. Sept. 29 that sent Austin J. Cogdill, 24, Herington, to Salina Regional Medical Center.

According to an accident report released Friday, Cogdill’s eastbound Mustang drove into the left front tire and undercarriage of a westbound farm implement being driven by Justin M. Deines, 28, rural Ramona.

Deputy Bruce Burke’s report said the Mustang was destroyed. The implement remained drivable. No tickets were issued.

US-56/77 south of 340th Rd.

Chris A. Clements, 62, Manhattan, hit a deer at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 3 with his 2017 Ford F-150, which sustained damage to its front half and undercarriage and was towed.

US-77 north of 50th Rd.

Stopped in a work zone, a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox owned and driven by Marvin D. Nightengale, 86, rural Burns, was rear-ended by a 2004 Peterbilt semi owned by Roadrunner Expedited and driven by Wesley T. Wolf, 33, both of Windthorst, Texas.

Damage to both vehicles was characterized as minor. Deputy Kaylan Miles’s report blamed inattentive driving by Wolf, but no tickets were issued.

Sunflower Rd. north of 160th Rd.

James W. Crofoot, 68, Marion, hit a deer at 7:39 a.m. Thursday with his 2018 Buick Enclave, which sustained damage described as disabling to its front and hood but was removed by the driver.

Joni Crofoot, 65, of the same address was a passenger. The accident was investigated by deputy James Philpott, who normally oversees the county jail.

Diamond Rd. north of 330th Rd.

Kim M. Koop, 67, rural Hillsboro, hit an unoccupied, illegally parked 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 he was attempting to get around with his farm implement at 7:28 p.m. Oct. 4, according to deputy Peyton Heidebrecht’s report.

Koop’s implement was not damage. The pickup, owned by Dustin D. Perkins of Lorraine, sustained damage described as minor. No tickets were issued.
