REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Quail Creek Rd. north of 310th Rd.

Judith K. Stika, 79, rural Lincolnville, hit a deer at 8 p.m. Oct. 18 with her 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which remained drivable despite damage to its front and hood.

Bluestem Rd. north of 300th Rd.

A 1975 John Deere FE tractor hauling hay pulled out from behind trees at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 21 and was struck by a 2019 Ford Expedition owned and driven by Bethany L. Carlson, 41, rural Lincolnville.

Her sport-utility vehicle remained drivable despite damage to its right front. The tractor sustained damage characterized as minor.

Deputy Kaylan Miles’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving by tractor owner Derrian C. Keil, 28, rural Burdick, but no tickets were issued.

Mustang Rd. north of 190th Rd.

Andrew T. Ammer, 35, rural Peabody, drove his 2016 Toyota Corolla off the road and into a ditch, striking a tree, at 2:12 p.m. Oct. 16 to avoid a 2018 Ford F-150 that Amanda J. Fike, 35, Moundridge, was backing onto the road.

Deputy Matt Regier’s report said Fike failed to yield, but no tickets were issued.

Ammer’s car remained drivable despite damage to its entire left side. Fike’s truck, owned by Lease Plan USA of Goddard, was not damaged.

MARION

100 block of S. Lincoln St.

Driving on a farm permit, Hailey R. Harshman, 15, rural Marion, backed her 2002 BMW X5 out of a Marion High School parking space at 3:10 p.m. Oct. 17, hitting the left front of a southbound 2008 Pontiac Torrent owned and driven by Allena D. Barnette, 38, of Marion.

Officer Jonathan Benevidez’s report said the back window of Harshman’s BMW was covered in dirt, obstructing her view. No tickets were issued.

Kayle Creevan, 16, and Madison Creegan, 12, who share Barnette’s address, were passengers in Barnette’s SUV.

MARION

Main and Locust Sts.

Driving a 1994 Toyota pickup on a farm permit, 14-year-old Kate E. Wessle of rural Peabody rear-ended a 2015 Ford Fusion that had stopped at a crosswalk at 3:12 p.m. Oct. 24.

Interim chief Zach Hudlin’s report states that wet pavement and worn tread on rear tires of her pickup might have contributed to the accident. No tickets were issued.

The Ford, owned and driven by Ashton L. Smith, 39, rural Marion, sustained damage to its rear. The pickup was damaged on its front and left side. The extent of damage to both was classified as unknown. Neither was towed.
