These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
US-56 west of K-256
Kaitlin J. Kelley, 31, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 3:45 p.m. Jan. 6 with her 2017 Chevrolet Traverse, which sustained damage termed minor to its right front.
Goldenrod Rd. north of 190th Rd.
While plowing snow at 3:10 p.m. Jan. 9, county road and bridge superintendent Steve D. Hudson, 59, Hillsboro, failed to negotiate a curve and drove a 2015 International 7600 county truck into the right ditch, where it overturned.
The truck’s undercarriage, left side, and plow were damaged, but damage was termed minor. The truck was removed by road and bridge workers.
Deputy Bruce Burke’s report blamed the accident on weather and on inattentive driving. No tickets were issued.
K-15 north of 130th Rd.
Micha S. Hiebert, 44, Lehigh, hit a deer at 5:55 p.m. Jan. 10 with her 2021 Kia K5, which remained drivable with damage to its hood, undercarriage, and right front.
Indigo Rd. south of 90th Rd.
Steven B. Diggs, 23, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital after his 2014 Toyota Camry hit a slick spot and slid into a ditch at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 10.
The Camry remained functional with damage to its undercarriage and right front.
Deputy Kaylan Miles’s report blamed the accident on road conditions and inattentive driving. No tickets were issued.
