These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-56/77/K-15 roundabout

A westbound 1999 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Kenneth D. Nienstedt, 87, rural Marion, sustained disabling damage at 6:50 a.m. Oct. 12 to its front, right, and undercarriage after striking a roundabout curb and running off the road to the left, according to a report released Thursday.

Margie A. Nienstedt, 81, of the same address was a passenger in the car, which was towed.

Deputy Bruce Burke’s report blamed the wreck on Kenneth Nienstedt driving inattentively and too fast for conditions, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

Goldenrod Rd. south of US-56

Two Hillsboro residents were injured, one seriously, when their 2012 Yamaha XVS motorcycle, turning southeast from US-56 onto Goldenrod Rd. at 1:37 p.m. Oct. 12, ran off the road and into the left ditch at a curve, throwing them 16 feet from where the motorcycle ended up on its side.

Passenger Robin M. Ediger, 58, was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Driver Allen R. Ediger, 60, was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Both were wearing helmets.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the wreck on driving too fast for conditions, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

The motorcycle sustained disabling damage to its front, right, and windshield and was towed.

US-50 east of Remington Rd.

A spare tire fell at 1:50 p.m. Oct. 13 off the back of a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Lacey Seematter, 34, Abilene, and hit a 2020 Buick Encore driven by Sandra C. Stewart, 67, Gardner.

The tire caused damage characterized as minor to the Encore’s right side.

Gabriel and Augustus Vanover of the same Admire address were passengers in the pickup. Even though information about juveniles involved in traffic matters is an open, public record under Kansas law, their ages were redacted by the sheriff’s department.

Gladys Dodds, 91, of the same Garner address was a passenger in the sport-utility vehicle.

US-56 west of Pawnee Rd.

Samuel C. McGinnis, 26, Cottonwood Falls, hit a deer at 7:16 p.m. Oct. 13 with his 2015 GMC Sierra, which remained drivable with damage to its front and left side.

120th Rd. east of Holly Rd.

Mollie R. Penner, 21, rural Hillsboro, told sheriff’s deputies that she hit a deer at 9 a.m. Oct. 15 with her 2016 Ford Fusion, which sustained damage characterized as minor to its front third.

Jade Rd. north of 180th Rd.

Elizabeth A. Walker, 66, rural Hillsboro, hit a deer at 8:35 p.m. Oct. 15 with her 2021 Toyota 4Runner, which remained drivable with damage to its right front.

Gregg B. Walker, 71, of the same address was a passenger.

150th Rd. north of Indigo Rd.

Aimee M. Shaver, 44, rural Hillsboro, hit a deer at 7:10 a.m. Oct. 16 with her 2006 Dodge Ram 3500, which remained drivable with damage to its left front, hood, and undercarriage.

Indigo Rd. north of 130th Rd.

Austin J. Welch, 25, Hillsboro, hit at deer at 8:24 p.m. Oct. 16 with a 2021 Mazda CX5 owned by passenger McKayla G. Welch, 25, of the same address.

The SUV sustained disabling damage to its left front and hood and was towed.

Bluestem Rd. north of 290th Rd.

Brent A. Carlson, 38, rural Burdick, hit a deer at 6:30 a.m. Thursday with a 2017 Lincoln Navigator owned by Ellen A. Carlson of the same address.

The SUV remained drivable with damage to its right front.

HILLSBORO

Ash St. and Orchard Dr.

Riley N. Cox, 19, Bashor, was ticketed for allegedly running a stop sign after her eastbound 2018 Nissan Sentra and a northbound 2000 Chevrolet 1500 driven by Charles D. Casebeer, 74, rural Galva, collided at 7:54 p.m. Oct. 13.

Casebeer’s truck remained drivable with damage to its right front. Cox’s car, owned by Lindsay A. Blackard of the same Bashor address, sustained disabling damage to its right side and was towed.
