These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
highway patrol
Jade Rd. north of 170th Rd.
Driver Sutton M. Redger, 16, Hillsboro, was killed, and passenger Sean D. Mader, 16, seriously injured at 5 p.m. Saturday when their southbound 1991 Chevrolet Silverado left Jade Rd. after a low-water bridge and rolled three times in a field.
Mader was taken to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, by Marion ambulance. Hillsboro ambulance and firefighters also responded. The first call to rescuers did not come until 6:32 p.m., more than an hour and a half after the highway patrol said the wreck occurred.
SHERIFF
US-56/77 south of 340th Rd.
Emily E. Rerick, 20, Newton, Connecticut, hit an unidentified object at 6:45 a.m. Jan. 31, according to one of two accident reports released Friday by the sheriff’s department.
Her 2018 Ford F-150 sustained disabling damage to its left front and was towed.
Sunflower Rd. north of 90th Rd.
Sklyre L. Stucky, 20, rural Peabody, hit what was reported to be a bobcat at 6:32 p.m. Feb.1 with her 2021 Kia Forte.
Her car remained drivable with damage to its right front and undercarriage.
HILLSBORO
300 block of E. C St.
Mayor Louis J. Thurston, 66, scraped the left mirror of a parked 2009 Ford Focus with his 2012 Ford Explorer at 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
Plastic from the mirror transferred to Thurston’s Explorer, and what was described as a minor scuff was noticed on the Focus, owned by Aiden J. Souza, Herington.
Souza reportedly told police he was not concerned about the accident and did not need an accident report.
