ACCIDENTS
REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
Goldenrod Rd. north of 190th Rd.
Its windshield obstructed by blowing snow at 2 p.m. Feb. 18, county employee David W. Silhan, 61, Marion, drove a 2025 International truck equipped as a snowplow off the road to the right, laying it on its left side.
Damage to the truck was not estimated, according to one of five accident reports released Friday,
290th Rd. east of Mustang Rd.
Kyle A. Naerebout, 23, Hillsboro, allegedly left the scene after losing control of his 2012 GMC Acadia on a snowy roadway at 1:30 a.m. Feb. 22, driving it into the right ditch for 225½ feet, striking a culvert, and continuing 14 more feet into a barbed wire fence owned by Cody R. Schafer of rural Tampa.
The wreck was not reported for nearly six hours, according to deputy Landis Goodman’s report, but no tickets were listed as being issued.
The pickup sustained disabling damage to the entire vehicle and was towed.
Indigo Rd. north of 100th Rd.
Jacob M. Roth, 18, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 9:15 p.m. Feb. 22 with his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, which sustained damage characterized as minor to its right front.
US-77 north of 140th Rd.
Mark S. Schulke, 54, Mulvane, hit a deer at 5:59 a.m. Thursday with a 2022 Ford F-150 owned by Foley Equipment Co., Wichita.
The pickup sustained disabling damage to its front third and undercarriage and was towed.
Falcon Rd. south of 270th Rd.
Jessica Tijerina, 46, Durham, drove into what deputy Caleb Tomlinson described as a mud pit in the road at 9:53 a.m. Thursday and ripped the front bumper off her 2018 Chevrolet Cruze.
Damage was characterized as minor.
MARION
Sherman St. east of Lincoln St.
Hitting an unpaved portion of street filled with rock at 2:40 p.m. Friday did damage termed severe to the left front tire, rim, and undercarriage of a 1999 Ford F-250 owned by Ida French and driven by Brandon French, 28, who in that block. Officer Kaylan Miles’ report blamed the accident on road maintenance.
