These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
Remington Rd. north of 120th Rd.
Fifteen-year-old Sofia S. Frohlich-Phipps of rural Marion suffered disabling injuries when she lost control of her 2004 Jeep Wrangler on loose gravel at 4:04 p.m. Sept. 4.
She swerved three times, hit a bridge crossing sign, and rolled the vehicle into a ditch, according to one of five accident reports released Friday by the sheriff’s department.
She was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Her entire vehicle sustained damage and was towed.
According to deputy Jesse Raney’s report, she was driving legally on a restricted license allowing drivers to go to and from work, school, or church by the most direct route.
Bluestem Rd. south of 300th Rd.
As reported in last week’s issue, Tyler J. Makovec, 25, rural Marion, suffered suspected serious injuries when his 249cc 2007 Honda dirt bike hit a deer at 7:38 p.m. Sept. 6.
Makovec was taken by Marion ambulance to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, after his dirt bike laid over.
Nighthawk Rd. south of 150th Rd.
Antonio J. Rivera, 46, rural Marion, may have been injured but was not taken to a hospital after his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado hit a deer at 11:01 p.m. Sept. 7.
His pickup sustained disabling damage to its front and undercarriage and was towed.
US-77 south of 110th Rd.
Shayne M. Mascareno, 30, Wichita, hit a deer at 8:04 p.m. Sept. 8 with her 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe, which suffered disabling damage to its front and was towed.
US-50 west of Pawnee Rd.
Ruth A. Rhymes, 23, Pampa, Texas, hit a deer at 4 a.m. Sept. 12 with a 2021 Toyota RAV4 owned by Sharron M. Andrews of the same address.
The sport-utility vehicle sustained disabling damage to its front third and undercarriage and was towed.
HILLSBORO
A 2007 Ford Focus legally parked behind Hillsboro Et Cetera Shop was struck between 7:45 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. Sept. 5 by a hit-and-run driver whose vehicle damaged the Ford’s left rear door and fender.
Owner Adella M. Katz, Lost Springs, reported the damage Sept. 8.
