ACCIDENTS
REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
60th Rd. west of Mustang Rd.
Austin B. Ochoa, 30, Hesston, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after his 2012 Ford F-150 ran off the road to the right at 5:41 a.m. Sept. 19, according to a report released a week later by the sheriff’s department.
Details of the crash were not released. The open, public record of the accident states only “see attached affidavit,” which was not made available.
Other portions of the report allege that Ochoa’s blood-alcohol level was 0.208%, or roughly 2½ times the legal limit. That level is considered a medical emergency with a risk of alcohol poisoning or death.
As reported last week, Hillsboro ambulance was called to the accident site to check Ochoa. Ambulance attendants initially were told to wait nearby until deputies could determine whether it was safe to approach.
After Ochoa declined to be taken to a hospital, he was booked into Marion County Jail at 7:26 a.m. and released 1½ hours later after posting a $2,500 bond.
His pickup was towed.
No other accident reports were released this week by the sheriff’s department.
MARION
Main and Cedar Sts.
Rebekka C. Coffman, 34, Marion, was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian after her 2000 Buick Park Avenue hit Angela L. Stringer, 53, Marion, in a Cedar St. crosswalk at 2:06 p.m. Sunday as Coffman was turning south from Main St. onto Cedar St.
Part-time officer Gary Slater’s report listed Stringer as injured, but she declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
