The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

U.S.-50 near milemarker 298:

Benjamin D. Johnson, 18, Wichita, was eastbound on U.S.-50 near milemarker 298 in a 2003 Ford F-250 pickup at 10:56 a.m. Sept. 4, when he side-swiped a 2008 Kenworth truck driven by Daniel T. Sargent, 52, Winnipeg, Canada. Deborah J. Sargent, 54, of the same address, was a passenger. The pickup truck was registered to Kan-Am Products of Wichita. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Travis Wilson reported Benjamin was injured but not transported by EMS. Damage was listed at more than $1,000.

Maria Street, Lehigh:

Sidney L. Wasemiller, 50, 205 Maria, Lehigh, was eastbound on Maria Street at a slow rate of speed in a 1995 Chevrolet pickup at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 18, when he struck a legally parked vehicle. He stated to Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott that he could not see the parked vehicle because of the sun. The vehicle was a 2007 Ford Taurus, owned by Rosaetta F. Hackney, 104 Summit, Goessel. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Intersection of U.S.-56/77/K-150:

Karen M. Fitzmaurice, 49, 208 Lincolnville, Lincolnville, was northbound on U.S.-77 in a 1995 Buick passenger car at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 19, when a 2007 Ford Fusion, driven by Kenneth A. Black, 53, Mission, was westbound on K-150 and crossed the intersection in front of the Buick. Fitzmaurice swerved to avoid hitting the Ford, entered a northwest ditch and struck a sign. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil.

U.S.-50, one-half mile west of U.S.-77:

Robert M. Epperly, 56, Wichita, was eastbound on U.S.-50 in a 1993 Toyota passenger car at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 28, when he swerved to miss a westbound vehicle that was passing and in his lane. The Toyota left the south side of the highway, hitting a culvert, becoming airborne, and landing on the other side of a culvert, rolling at least 1.5 times before coming to rest on its top. Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the accident and reported the driver was air-lifted to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
