Administrative consultant hired

Staff writer

Bradley Harris, the city administrator of North Newton, has been hired by Peabody as a consultant providing city management-related services.

These services include organization development, project management, and unspecified duties as directed by city council.

Harris will work between 5 and 12 hours per week and will be paid $60 per hour. He will be reimbursed for travel expenses.

Harris’s contract, which lasts for six months, emphasizes that he is not a city employee but a consultant providing services to the city.

Harris himself made the same point.

“I’m not an interim administrator there,” he said. “I think that’s important to make sure that that’s reported accurately. I’m providing some advice and recommendations. I’m not formally overseeing anything.”

Harris is not looking to leave his full-time job at North Newton anytime soon, he said.

He does not have prior history with Peabody but has become acquainted with the community, visiting multiple times over the last few months.

“I hope that I can provide useful information to them based on my experience in local government,” he said. “They’re missing some key staff members, so I’m just hoping I can help them bridge the gap.”
