Agnes Steinert

Agnes Lorene (Mueller) Steinert, 88, passed away April 26, 2015, at Wesley Towers of Hutchinson, Kansas, due to complications from a stroke.

A funeral service was to be Wednesday, April 29, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tampa, with interment in Tampa Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, April 28, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

She was born August 9, 1926, on the family farm north of Tampa, Kansas, the daughter of H.F.K. and Mathilde (Bielefeld) Mueller. On June 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wilbur “Woody” Steinert. Agnes was a retired waitress, housekeeper, and postal worker in Tampa. In retirement, she lived in Hillsboro and Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Arnold, Werner, Arthur, Erich, Lloyd, and Lawrence Mueller; a sister, Alice Winter; and son Monty.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Beard of Loveland, Colorado, Vickie (Tom) Beck of Whitewater, and Randall (Jan) Steinert of Andover; sisters Paula Fike of Ramona and Doris Ott of Golden, Missouri; grandchildren Stacy Ortiz, Angie (Mitch) Hergenreter, Heather (Jerry) Matthews, Natalie (Steve) Martin, and Danielle (Shannon) Haydock; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established for St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tampa, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.
