All-Stars finish regional regional tournament 1-2

The Cottonwood Valley League All-Stars missed their chance at the 12-and-under Cal Ripken World Series Friday, but gained valuable experiences in the process.

“We developed some real friendships during the last month, and created some memories that will last a lifetime,” manager Jayson Hanschu said.

The All-Stars went 1-2 in the regional tournament, beating Scottsbluff, Neb. 11-1 in the first game, then losing to teams from Park Hills, Mo. and La Junta, Colo.

The Park Hills team won the tournament, advancing to the World Series in Maryland. La Junta finished fourth.

Jorge Hanschu, Wesley Shaw and Hunter Griffin all hit home runs in the tournament.

“This was an amazing journey these players took over the last month,” Jayson Hanschu said. “We coaches were honored to be part of it.”
