Centre High School boys’ team won the 1A powerlifting championship April 18 at Quivera Heights, Bushton. The team scored 129 points, 19 more than Stafford, the second-place team. Ten teams participated.
Each of three brothers, Canh Antosyzk, a senior, Zach Antoszyk, a junior, and Mikael Antosyk, a freshman, was overall champion in his weight class.
In the 105-weight class, Mikael Antoszyk placed first in bench lightweight) and squat (mediumweight), for a total of 495 pounds.
In the 114-weight class, Canh Antosyk placed first in bench, squat, and clean (heaveweight), for a total of 535 pounds.
In the 132-weight class, Zach Antoszyk placed first in bench and squat and second in clean for a total of 770 pounds.
Adam Kristek had a good showing in the 198-weight class, placing first in bench and clean, for a total of 615 pounds. Four others placed in the top six.
Stan Wiles coached the 12-member team. They received a trophy and a plaque.
