Arrest eluded, but charges now filed

A Lincolnville man whom officers could not find the night young children said their mother was being choked was charged last week with domestic battery.
The charge against Darrin W. Tannehill stems from an April 8 incident after which Tannehill was not arrested.
Officers went to Tannehill’s Lincolnville residence that night after children reported their mother was being choked and having her head slammed into doors.
When officers arrived, Tannehill already had fled. Other agencies were summoned to assist in the search.
“We did look around in the area for him as best we could,” undersheriff Larry Starkey said.
The story being told to officers was changed during the evening, and officers discontinued looking for him.
After the charge formally was filed in court, a summons to appear was issued.
It is not the first time Tannehill has been charged with domestic battery.
He was charged Sept. 8 with aggravated domestic battery by choking, endangering a 2-month-old child, criminal restraint, and criminal damage to property. Those charges stemmed from a Sept. 6 incident with the same alleged victim. That case was dismissed Oct. 22 with the proviso that it might be refiled.
