Arrest is 3rd in 11 days

For the third time in 11 days, a Marion man was arrested Friday on a warrant for allegedly violating a protective order.

Dustin J. Luchi, 43, Marion, was booked into jail in lieu of $25,000 surety bond only three days after he was released from jail on a $10,000 surety bond.

Assistant police chief Steve Janzen said Luchi’s arrest Friday was on a warrant from an earlier incident in which Luchi had not been arrested.

Luchi got out of jail Oct. 4 after his Oct. 3 arrest for allegedly threatening his 44-year-old former girlfriend with a knife and leading police on an hour -long foot pursuit.

His father, Charles Luchi, helped locate him that night as he ran through a wooded area on the west side of Marion.

The Friday warrant stemmed from a Thursday incident in Marion County. A formal charge filed against Luchi the same day specifies that on Oct. 5 he allegedly violated a Harvey County protection order.

In a Sept. 26 incident, Luchi fled before police arrived at the victim’s residence. Police later found him in a car elsewhere and told him about the protective order. Officers told Luchi not to return there.

Luchi previously was jailed Sept. 13 on suspicion of domestic battery and was released the following day on $5,000 surety bond. Between April 1, 2021, and May 4, Luchi was jailed five times on suspicion of distributing drugs, interference with law enforcement, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving while his license was suspended or revoked, and other charges.

Eight criminal cases filed after those arrests remain pending.
