Arrests made in sexual assault case in Peabody
Staff writer
Peabody police arrested an 18-year-old honor roll student Tuesday on a charge of allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.
Malachi Lee Hunsucker, 18, a senior at Peabody-Burns High School, was booked into Marion County Jail on one count of rape.
A 14-year-old boy also was taken into custody and transported to juvenile facilities in Junction City. Charges filed against juveniles are closed to the public.
The alleged incident came to light Jan. 18 when Peabody police officer Travis Davis was dispatched to a local address. Police declined to state the reason for the dispatch. Davis contacted Chief Bruce Burke, who began an investigation.
Burke said additional charges were pending with the county attorney’s office.
