LETTERS TO THE EDITOR:   Auxiliary shop brings many benefits

Auxiliary shop brings many benefits

To the editor:

St. Luke Auxiliary Shoppe has been in the process of moving to a new location, which is 321 E. Main St., across the street. It will be reopening very soon.

This has been, and continues to be, a huge undertaking by many dedicated, wonderful volunteers. New volunteers are always needed.

This resale store has been in operation since the end of 2005. During that time, we have given our profits to St. Luke Hospital, which has included $125,000 to the recent hospital renovation.

But this is not the only way that our shop has benefited the Marion community. Items donated are reused rather than thrown into the trash stream. Many people suffering hardships such as house fires have been given free clothing and household goods. Excess and lower-quality clothing has been donated to charity. The shop draws many people to town on Fridays and Saturdays, which helps all other local businesses.

We feel that we are a huge contributor to our local economy in many ways. We look forward to continuing and seeing all of our shoppers gain.
