Barbara Unruh

Services for Barbara L Unruh, 67, who died Oct. 12 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Goessel after a long battle with cancer, were Sunday.

Born on June 22, 1958, in Coolidge, Arizona, she and her three sisters were adopted in 1973 by Milton and Selma Schmidt of rural Goessel.

She graduated Goessel High School in 1977 and married Jeffrey D. Unruh on Sept. 8, 1979, at Tabor Mennonite Church.

Primarily a homemaker, she also worked at Bethesda Nursing Home and Ratzlaff Drapery.

Survivors include husband Jeff of rural Goessel; son Jared Unruh of rural Goessel; daughter Shonda Fast of rural Newton; sisters Linda Graber, Patricia Schmidt, and Kathy Voth; and six grandchildren.

Her parents and a grandson preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Jost Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
