Centre’s Kate Basore broke the old Wheat State League record in javelin by more than 3 feet Thursday at Goessel. Her throw of 127 feet, 3 inches broke the record set by Kristin Waters of Little River in 2012 at 124 feet.
The boys and girls teams both placed fifth in the league meet.
Second-place finishers included Barrett Smith, javelin, at 142-3; Xavier Espinoza, 100, 11.68 seconds; and Whitney Gutsch, shot put, 30-9.5 and discus, 87-11.
Smith placed third in shot put with a throw of 44-3.5. Espinoza placed third in 400 at 53.62. A boys 4x100 relay team of Espinoza, Zach Barney, Max Svoboda, and James Mercer also placed third with a time of 50.13.
Summer Espinoza finished third in girls shot put with a throw of 30-3.5.
