Ben Wiens

Services for for Ben J. Wiens, 102, who died Thursday at Hillsboro Community Hospital, will be noon Thursday at Hillsboro Mennonite Church’s fellowship hall.

A private committal service will be at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.

Born Feb. 28, 1919, in Hillsboro to Jacob and Anna (Willems) Wiens, he married Mary Wall on Aug. 20, 1942, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota.

She died in 2007. A sister, Leona Schultz, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughter Sandra Wiens of Guilford, Connecticut, and sister Luella Stauffer of Pipestone, Minnesota

Memorial teacher education scholarships have been established in his name at Tabor College.
