Benny Metcalfe

Benny L. Metcalfe, 70, of White City, died Feb. 12, 2009, at his home.

Born July 4, 1938, at Dunlap, he was the son of Virgil A. and Viola M. (Piper) Metcalfe.

He was an over-the-road truck driver.

On Aug. 26, 1960, he married Lola “Sue” Estes in Council Grove. She survives of the home.

Five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Other survivors include two daughters, Bennie Wallace of White City and Angel Harold of Ramona; two sons, Milt Metcalfe of Dwight and A.J. Price of White City; four brothers, Clifford Metcalfe of Atchison, August Metcalfe, Bill Metcalfe, and Larry Metcalfe, all of Dunlap; a sister, Carol Sisson of Dunlap; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was Saturday afternoon at Penwell-Gable Funeral Home of Herington, with Christie Alexander officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to White City Library Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
