Bentz and Naerebout are Centre FFA star farmers

Tyler Bentz of Tampa and Bryce Naerebout of Lost Springs were named chapter star farmers at the Centre FFA banquet on May 11.

Bentz provides ag services to local farmers, and Naerebout works at Hillsboro Industries and has completed his welding certificate through Hutchinson Community College welding center in Hillsboro.

Freshman Grace Knepp received the star greenhand award.

Chapter proficiency award winners were Bentz, agricultural services; Payton Harms, beef production entrepreneurship; Kristin Vinduska, fiber and/or oil crop production, turf grass management; Zach Barney, sheep production; Carissa Shields, small animal care; and Grace Knepp, diversified livestock production.

Shields received $100 as the top fruit salesman, followed by Vinduska, $75; Nathaniel Engler, $50; and Zach Barney, $50. The chapter sold 943 items.

Shields and Vinduska received local scholarship awards from FFA Alumni Association, Leo S. Jirak Memorial, Evancho Memorial, Leadership, James Weber Memorial, and American Red Cross.

John and Gerry Vinduska were named honorary Centre FFA members.

The 2016-2017 officers installed were Raeanne Bryant, president; Zach Barney, vice president; Grace Knepp, secretary; Dylan Deines, treasurer; Payton Harms, reporter; and Greg Oborny, sentinel.
