A house that has become a derelict eyesore and a lot where a derelict house once stood will soon be sold by Marion City Land Bank.

Land bank board members met after Monday’s city council meeting and gave city administrator Roger Holter permission to accept bids on the properties.

The lot, located at 714 Sherman St. was formerly owned by Deliliah Belshe.

The property will be sold for $1,430.

The second house, located at 135 N. Freeborn St., was donated to the land bank by Hillsboro residents Roger and Cynthia Fleming. It was previously a rental house but the owners were ready to be done as landlords, Holter said when it was donated.

The 1,000-square-foot house was believed to be in good enough condition for rehabilitation when it was donated.

Land bank members approved its sale for $2,635.

The land bank has additional parcels available for purchase.

All lots have utility connections and could be an affordable way to develop a new home.

The land bank also accepts property donations.
