Billie York

Billie E. York, 83, of Raymore, Mo., died Sept. 25.

Born Feb. 24, 1926, in Herington, to Earl and Nellie York, he graduated from Herington High School in 1944 and was drafted in the Army Air Force.

He attended Kansas State University and graduated from Central Radio and TV School in Kansas City, Mo. He was employed by KCTV-Channel 5 as a broadcast engineer for 13 years. He retired from the University of Missouri-Kansas City after 25 years of service.

On Sept. 20, 1952, he married Lavere Metzler. She survives.

His parents; son, Michael; and sisters Harriett and Erlean preceded him in death.

Other survivors include two sons, Kelvin and Timothy; a sister, Pearl Heupel; and six grandchildren.

Services were Monday evening at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore.

Graveside services were Tuesday morning at Raymore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to American Cancer Society or Kansas City Hospice.
