Maternal great-grandparents are Archie Schmidt of Newton, Connie and James Wiens of Goessel, and the late Helga Schmidt. Paternal great-grandparents are LaVada Holub of Pilsen, Jay and Hazel Pontious of Lincolnville, and the late Paul Holub.

Evelyn Schmidt of Goessel is the great-great-grandmother.
