Travis and Yvette Slagle of Portland, Ore., announce the birth of their first child, William Travis Slagle, at 12:59 a.m. April 5 in Portland, Ore.

He weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 22 inches long.

Terry and Cindy Thies Slagle of San Antonio, Texas, and Maria Olivia Esparza and Guadalupe Carlos Gonzales of Brownsville, Texas, are his grandparents.

Former Hillsboro and Marion resident Peggy Thies of Overland Park and the late William Thies are great-grandparents.
