The Sept. 12 Marion Community Blood Drive exceeded expectations. At least 60 units of blood were donated, providing almost half again as many as the goal of 41.

Corey Ann Shields was a first-time donor. Marion Kiwanis members unloaded equipment and, later, Marion Boy Scouts put the equipment back on the Red Cross truck.

Local volunteers helped in the canteen, were donor escorts, and staffed the registration table: Gayle Thomas, John Yoder, Gloria Ash, Wanda Carr, Shirley Bowers, Della Coe, Sue Clough, Eunice Christensen, Judy Reno, Bea Kelsey, Diane Richmond, Donna Kreutziger, and Rhonda Brenzikofer.

Joni Crofoot and Janet Bryant coordinated the drive.
