Bluebirds improve to 21-6

Goessel’s three seniors helped the team dominate two league games last Tuesday.
The Bluebirds defeated Wakefield 25-4, 25-5 on senior night.
Alece Lehrman earned points from the left side, Jaicee Griffin was effective from the middle position, and Alyson Roberts served aggressively.
Goessel picked up its sixth win in league play with a victory over Solomon, 25-10, 25-12. Aimee Funk, junior, was recognized for surpassing the 1,000-assist” threshold in her Goessel career.
On Saturday, Goessel played at Canton-Galva and picked up three more wins, en route to a third place finish.
The Bluebirds lost to Little River in two sets, defeated Canton-Galva in two sets, and defeated Wichita Homeschool in three sets.
The Bluebirds lost to 3A Halstead 25-18, 25-21 but for the second time last week defeated Solomon, 25-16, 26-24, to capture third place.
The Bluebirds are now 21-6 overall and 6-1 in the Wheat State League.
Goessel will travel to Little River for league matches that also will include Herington.
Marion
Marion was swept Thrusday by the visiting Inman Teutons.
The team’s star player, Grace Hett, was announced as homecoming queen Friday and missed a Canton-Galva tournament Saturday so she could be featured in the Old Settlers Day parade along with her teammate and homecoming queen nominee Gabby Newell.
At the tournament, the Warriors lost to Halstead, won against Sunrise Christian Academy, lost to Solomon, and then won against Wichita Homeschool.
Marion will be home Thursday to play against Ell-Saline.
