Books target kids living with trauma

New books at Peabody Township Library are designed to help children in traumatic situations.

“The new books target many issues children in Peabody face, including dealing with others who have mental illness or disabilities, poverty, many forms of abuse, or broken homes,” library director Rodger Charles said.

The books were purchased with a $750 grant received last year from Kansas Book Festival.

The library also received a complete collection of books by William Allen White.

“Peabody Township Library now becomes one of very few libraries in Kansas to have a complete set of these books,” Rodgers said.

The gift was facilitated by Faie Frederickson.

The books are available to be read during normal library hours.
