Tuesday action
Boys win both games
The Marion High School baseball team won both games with Haven Tuesday night.
The Warriors defeated the Wildcats, 2-1, in the 10th inning in the first game.
Isaac Hett reached base in the bottom of the 10th on a single, Colton Olsen walked and Brian Fruechting hit into a double play, but moved Hett to third. With two outs, Wil Case hit a walk-off single.
Case was also the winning pitcher. Case and Austin Pederson both struck out the side — Pederson in the seventh and Case in the ninth — to preserve the 1-1 tie.
The Warriors won the second game, 11-1, in six innings.
The Marion offense exploded in the last two innings to score eight runs. Case hit a double to score two runs to increase the lead to run-rule territory. Isaac Hett also scored a run and notched an RBI in the final two frames.
The Warrior softball team was not as fortunate, losing twice to Haven, 15-2 and 13-4.
The Warriors looked as though they were ready to contend in the second game when they scored four runs in the fourth inning — including a Shelby Percel double that scored Brooke Johnson and Alex Cain — to close the gap to one run. But, the Wildcats countered with a six-run inning and Marion was unable to score for the rest of the game.
