Brad Turk

Mass of Christian burial for Bradley W. Turk, 68, Marion, who passed away at his home Sunday, Oct, 2, 2022, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Holy Family Parish, Marion.

Brad’s family will gather with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion.

Brad’s life began Sept. 23, 1954, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion. A son of Gilbert and Phyllis (Allen) Turk, he was a 1973 graduate of Marion High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS South Carolina, where he was the captain’s personal barber. Brad was an original plank owner of the USS South Carolina.

In 1979, he was united in marriage to Peggy Lurz and later was united in marriage to Luretta Hewitt on October 22, 1999.

Brad was employed by Cessna (Raytheon) Aircraft as a welder and was a welding instructor for Flint Hills Tech.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, remodeling his home, working in the yard, and welding projects, including log splitters, many dollies, trailers, and even a cherry picker.

Brad most especially enjoyed being a Papa to his grandchildren.

Brad is survived by his wife, Luretta, of Marion; his mother, Phyllis Erickson (and husband Jess) of Pilsen; children Jeffrey Turk of Marion, Ted Turk (and wife Samantha) of Marion, Christina Eveland of Wichita, Johnie Evans (and wife Angela) of Topeka, and Kasey Burson (and husband Dustin) of Wichita; grandchildren Melvin, Brandon, Christian, Easton, Jaxson, Archie, Dalton, Baileigh, Brye, Lexus, Abby, and Dakota Shae; and siblings Teresa of Arizona, Gary of Baldwin, Tony of St. Louis, Bill of Sedgwick, and Shane of Kansas City.

His father, Gilbert, preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Good Shepherd Hospice.
