Brenda McGinness

Memorial services for Brenda Sue McGinness, 67, Hesston, Kansas, who passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2026 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at Kingdom Life Ministries, Hesston.

She was born March 1, 1958, in Hillsboro to Marlin “Dutch” and Mildred (Dies) Steinle, graduated from Hillsboro High School, and later graduated from Hutchinson Junior College.

Brenda was united in marriage to David McGinness on Nov. 10, 1979 in Hillsboro. They shared 46 years of marriage.

Brenda and David owned and operated several businesses, including Old Town Restaurant in Hillsboro, McGillicuddy’s and The Big Scoop in Marion, and Brenda’s Bloomers and Gifts in Hillsboro and Marion.

Brenda later became a CMA for Parkside Homes in Hillsboro and CNA for Bethesda Home in Goessel and Kidron Bethel in North Newton.

Brenda was a member of Kingdom Life Ministries in Hesston.

She is survived by her husband, David McGinness, of Hesston; daughter JoAnna Dent of Valley Center; grandchildren Jacob Schwartz, Emma Dent and Silas Dent; and sister Judy Fleming (and husband Gary) of Springdale, Arkansas.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation is planned.
