Burns woman faces drug, child endangerment charges

Amber Bass, 28, was arrested and her three children placed in protective custody Dec. 3 after sheriff’s officers allegedly found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medications at her residence in Burns.

“We responded to a welfare check on some children and found the parent in the home,” Sheriff Robert Craft said. “The mother was still asleep when we arrived.”

A dispatcher’s radio transmission at 10:33 a.m. described the reporting party as saying “mother passed out and children are unattended.”

Undersheriff David Huntley and detective Wilma Mueller discovered unsupervised children weren’t the only issues in the Bass home.

“During the course of the discussion, illegal narcotics were found, and drug paraphernalia, and she was arrested for that as well as child endangerment,” Craft said.

Officers took the children to Marion and turned them over to a juvenile intake worker for assessment and placement.
