Ruth Poppe, former resident of Lincolnville, will celebrate her 90th birthday Aug. 30.

She was a long-time elementary school teacher at Centre and is the widow of Vernon “Bum” Poppe, salesman at Lynn’s Truck and Tractor in Marion.

She moved to Clay Center in 2000 to be near her daughter, Marsha, and family.
