Caregiver accused of mistreatment

A Peabody woman was charged Thursday with two counts of mistreatment of a dependant adult.
Both charges filed against Shannon Denardi are felonies.
Marion County attorney Joel Ensey said Denardi allegedly siphoned money from Arnold Leroy Jagt over many months.
The matter came to light after the family of Jagt’s deceased wife took over his care and noticed irregularities in his financial records, Ensey said.
The second charge against Denardi stems from her allegedly failing to take him for medical treatment because of a health disorder that ultimately became severe enough surgery was required.
The medical issue came about more recently.
“It was withholding treatment that I feel should have been brought to medical attention sooner,” Ensey said.
