Carl E. Cyr

Carl E. Cyr, 71, of McPherson died Feb. 26 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born May 18, 1941, in Como to Clarence E. and Lena E. (Biery) Cyr.

He attended schools in Como, Mulberry, and Morganville and graduated from Clay Center High School in 1959. He attended Washburn University in Topeka. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in McPherson and St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion.

He worked as a custom harvester and at service stations in Topeka before joining International Harvester as an assistant parts manager. He moved to Marion and worked in the parts department of Hesston Corporation until it closed. He then worked for AGCO in Hesston until his retirement.

He married Anne L. Patry on Aug. 5, 1967, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Florence. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Everett and Clarence “Laverne” Cyr.

He is survived by three children, James E. Cyr of Marion, Pamela Webber of Marion, and Patricia Cyr of Hillsboro; two siblings, Gayle Cyr of Topeka, Jane Liby of Triplett, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation and the Rosary were Sunday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday at the church with Father Hien Nguyen officiating. Burial was in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established for St. Joseph’s Catholic Building Fund, Food For The Poor, and Kansas for Life.
