Carol Piland
Memorial services for former resident Carol Sue Piland, 81, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, at Allure Health Care Services in Peru, Illinois, will be scheduled later in Kansas.
She will be buried with her husband at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody. Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home of La Salle, Illinois, is entrusted with arrangements.
Carol was born July 8, 1944, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, one of eleven children of Henry and Caroline Bloomer.
She worked as a manager for Motel 6 for many years and was a certified nursing assistant for Westview Manor in Peabody.
She married Hubert “Jack” Piland in May of 1959 in Kansas.
Carol was a previous member of Peabody Christian Church. She was an avid baker and loved to crochet and sew, making many wonderful creations for her family to enjoy. Carol also was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Carol is survived by her son, Daniel Piland of LaSalle, Illinois; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Piland of LaSalle; her granddaughters, Danielle “Dani” Piland of LaSalle, Heather Costello (and husband Anthony) of Peru, and Charlotte Piland of LaSalle; and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are siblings Mary Russell (and husband Jesse), Shirley Solomon, Sharon Smith (and husband Mike), and Karen Voth; sister-in-law Cora Bloomer; and brother-in-law Herb Deichen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Hubert Piland III; and six siblings, John Bloomer, Don Bloomer, April Deichen, Barbara Cott, Dorothy Brown, and Leonard Bloomer.
