Carol Yvonne (Tambke) Schmidt

Born on Oct. 15, 1940, in Deshler, Neb., to Arnold and Eula (Hill) Tambke, Carol Yvonne (Tambke) Schmidt passed away in her home in Peabody, Kan., on Jan. 8, 2013, surrounded by family.

She was baptized on
Nov. 3, 1940, and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 11, 1954, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, Neb.

She retired from Legacy Park of Peabody as a dietary manager.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; one sibling, Arnold John Tambke Jr.; and two grandchildren, Melissa Ammeter and Benjamin Bishop.

She is survived by three sons, Gayle Bishop and Jona of Goddard, Kan., Steve (Lee) Bishop of Peabody, and Mark (Charla) Bishop of Florence, Kan.; one daughter, Vonnie (Arlen) Gfeller of Peabody; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marlys (John) Bowman of Adrmore, Okla., Dorothy (Jeff) Marson of Menomonie, Wis., Debra (Gary) Johnson of Lincoln, Neb., and Mary (Tom) Rust of Holdridge, Neb.; one brother, Tom (Terry) Tambke of Lincoln; two stepsisters, Trudy Berkey of Belville, Neb., and Karen Dahms of Eagle, Neb.; one stepbrother, Randy McCoy of Eagle; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends whom she considered as family.

Funeral services was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Peabody United Methodist Church with interment at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Baker Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Peabody United Methodist Church Youth Group and Progressive Home Health Hospice-Newton.
