Casey’s fuel reopening is still weeks away

Staff writer

The fuel station at Casey’s General Store is still going through a complete overhaul, including news pumps after the replacement of steel fuel tanks.

The project was supposed to take five weeks, but that time frame has since doubled.

“We’re upgrading our fuel equipment to better serve our guests, which includes installing new tanks, fuel lines, and dispensers for improved long-term service and reliability,” said Chase Russell with Casey’s corporate office.

The project is now on schedule to be completed by the middle of December.

One of the store’s two tanks was leaking, according to the construction company in charge of the project.

Casey’s denied that, and the Kansas Department of Environmental Health agreed.

A fuel tank was placed into the ground a few weeks ago. Work is now being done on where the new pumps will be placed.
Cenex is the only other fuel station in Marion.
