Cecil Rock

Cecil D. Rock, 80, of Herington, died Aug. 21 at his home.

Born Feb. 12, 1930, at Abilene, to Earl and Nina (Bunker) Rock, he graduated from Herington High School in 1948.

He was a machinist.

He married Shirley Gillispie on June 3, 1951, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington. She survives.

His parents preceded him in death.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael of Topeka and Raymond of Ottawa; three daughters, Denise Welsh of Raytown, Mo., Marcella Vega of Kansas City, Mo., and Tina Novak, of Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington. The Rev. Troy Slater will officiate.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery with military honors.

Memorials may be made to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center of Salina and Dickinson County Hospice in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S Broadway St, Herington KS 67449-3038.
