MARION SENIOR CENTER:   Center gears up for Christmas

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Marion Senior Center is decorated for Christmas with banners, a tree, and special placemats designed by patrons. Christmas music is played mid-morning, and Shirley Bowers often plays carols on the piano before lunch. There will be carol singing at the Christmas Eve meal Dec. 24.

Wanda Hamm took treats to the center for her birthday Dec. 10, and Irene Richmond took her granddaughter, Penny Antoszyk, and treats for her birthday Dec. 11.

Elvis impersonator Marc Baker will perform at 7 p.m. Jan. 3 at the center in celebration of Elvis Presley’s 78th birthday on Jan. 8.

Brian Obermeyer, who works for Nature Conservancy, gave a presentation on the Flint Hills and other areas overseen by the conservation organization.

Marion County Senior Citizens will have a board meeting Friday at the center.
