SENIOR CENTER:   Center welcomes new temporary cook

We welcome Janis Wright, who is cooking for us until the area agency hires a new cook. She is highly qualified and we are lucky to have her.

On April 19, we celebrated “Poem in Your Pocket Day” with readings by Sue Clough, Edie Jones and me. It was also National Animal Cracker day with samples.

Shirley Moore bought in lilacs for us to enjoy. There is also an Easter lily someone shared with us.

There are new clothing items in the Craft Corner, mostly women’s shirts and T-shirts. Come in and check on them.

We had our first-of-the-season hamburgers grilled by Harlow Warneke on April 24. He will grill for us twice a month. Look for our menu.

Teresa Mills, director of Marion City Museum, was here on the 24th. She brought items that she hoped to stump us with, including one that looked like an old-fashioned popcorn popper. It was, instead, a gadget using coals to warm one’s bed.

Come join us on May 8, when Isaac Hett, Marion County Lake superintendent will speak.
