CENTRE: Academic, athletic awards presented

The annual Centre High School awards night was May 10 at the school.

The National Honor Society welcomed two new members: Carrie Carlson and Tom Oborny. Officers installed for 2011-12 are Shane Methvin, president; Oborny, vice president; Theo Kassebaum, secretary/treasurer; and Carlson, student council representative.

Ten freshmen, six sophomores, three juniors, and 13 seniors received certificates for scholastic achievement.

KSHSAA Exemplary Display of Sportsmanship Award — Svoboda, football; Shields, volleyball and girls basketball; Kerbs, boys basketball; Casey Kristek, track; and Adam Matz, golf.

Wendy’s Heisman High School Award — Burhoop.

Kansas ACT Scholar Award — Jirak.
